Good morning, it the second Tuesday of January already. The monthly Scraptastic Tuesday link is open today until next Monday night at 10:00 pm MST both here and at Nicky's blog, Mrs. Sew and Sow. It is the same link, so only join us at one or the other blog.
Please link up a blog post or a photo from Flickr or Instagram where you share a scrappy project, either finished or in progress, or some thought on how to deal with your scrap mountain. Please only one link per person, and your link will be your entry into the randomly drawn prizes from our fantastic sponsors. The winners will be announced next Tuesday. Everyone is welcome, you don't have to have joined in before.
Also, Nicky and I ask that you check out some of the other links and leave some comments too. There is always a lot of inspiration in how to use your scraps in these links. Oh and grab our button too, if you have a blog, the code is over on the sidebar.
Here are the prizes:
A huge thank you to each of our generous sponsors for the following prizes, which will be awarded randomly:

And, you are wondering, what scrappy thing do I have to share today. Well, it has been a busy week of things that were not sewing since last Tuesday when I shared Hush, a finished scrappy quilt I am very proud of.
However, I can share that I was making these bee blocks for my new bee called Bee Sewcial. The assignment from Stephanie, who blogs at Spontaneous Threads, was to make improv blocks with blues and reds, maybe a hint of mustard yellow, inspired by the glass work of Dale Chihuly.
So after making my two bee blocks, encouraged by Stephanie, I used the scraps to make another. This exercise also reminded me that I should try to do this more often, just take a few minutes to play with scraps as they are created. So that is my scrappy insight for today.
Do remember to check out Nicky's post today, she is making a fantastic clamshell quilt and it is growing so fast.
Best,
Leanne
I shall add the button to my blog as I haven't already done that and I'll be posting later :D Stephanie's quilt is going to be so unusual.
ReplyDeleteI really like those blocks. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love your bee blocks!
ReplyDeleteP.S. There's just one problem with visiting some of the other links: you find lots of new projects that you're desperate to start!!!
Thanks for a great motivator! I'm hoping to clear out my scrap bins a little bit this year.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Leanne. I can see Chihuly in your quilt blocks. Considering how varied Chihuly's work it, it would be interesting to see all the blocks Stephanie receives and how other interpret his glass in fabric.
ReplyDeleteOh man, how I love these blocks!! I'm off to a retreat, and this project is coming right along with me! I love how art inspires art! XX!!
ReplyDeleteI spotted these on Instagram and love them! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love his chandelier in the V&A - so organic and slightly mad! You seem to have aced the blocks! Can we expect a bit more curvy improv from you in the future?
ReplyDeleteHi Leanne, Thanks for hosting. Love scrappy projects!
ReplyDeleteI've loved seeing the blocks your bee has been making for Stephanie pop up on IG :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting block; it certainly captures Chiluly's style. Stephanie will have a fabulous, unique quilt. Thanks for setting up this linkup, too. There are so many quilts and blogs to see!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful linky party! and your Chihuly's are AMAZING! Nicely done! Off to check out some fantastic scrap projects!
ReplyDeletePhew, snuck in with 1m on the clock! Those blocks are lovely, I still live in fear of curves but I'm not ready to conquer that one yet, I've got too many things on the "next up" list to do first!
