An image
Do you like this picture?
I posted it on Sunday afternoonish and on Monday it was on Flickr Explore. I have had other photos on Explore, it usually means a few more people view it, maybe a photographer leaves a pleasant comment on the shot. Yesterday this picture became my all time most viewed flickr photo, in one day. A lot of photographers favourited it. It is a nice shot, not perfect lighting, but maybe it is a bit compelling somehow. Then Explore dropped it and regular viewing levels have resumed.
The 2.5" triangles are now sewn together and they are progressing into a mini quilt. I have fallen for it hard, and hope to have time to quilt it tonight. But it is just a bunch of orange, pink and yellow triangles. Why do some images just feel right?
Enjoy your Tuesday, I hope it is filled with lovely images.
Best,
Leanne
I love your triangles Leanne - especially the pyramid with the top one just balancing. Reminds me of acrabats.
ReplyDeleteThat's so super cool, Leanne! I love your triangle day of fame!
ReplyDeleteI love this arrangement - it is quirky and sparkly.
ReplyDeleteWell I like it and I'm really interested what you're doing with it, but no offense, I wouldn't have guessed...that has happened to me too - the unfinished quilt shot or what I think is just a progress post gets explored. And then the amazing (imho haha) finished project gets no notice. It is a very interesting phenomena...but congrats! It IS always fun none the less.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I love those colours
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't even know if any of my stuff got Explored. How do you know?!
ReplyDeleteIt just draws your eye and is perfect, as I am sure the mini will be.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours and the arrangement just draws you in. Di x
ReplyDeleteSharing your pink and orange triangle love right now too xxx
ReplyDeleteI understand why! It is on my to-do list, maybe even in those colours. lovely!
ReplyDeleteI don't know the answer. It has colour and texture and simplicity and balance. These things are all beautiful to look at... Looking forward to seeing the final product.
ReplyDeleteE xx
I love orange. Simple as that. Your octagonal block from the previous post is pretty perfect too!
ReplyDeleteI agree - it just feels right. Something about the right amount of order and randomness together combined with the colors? Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhy? I luv triangles and tone on tone colours. There is a great range of dark, medium, and a lighter fabric. There is harmony with the colours (analogous) and contrast with the background. The negative space is pleasing and the one red triangle that is somewhat out of line gives interest but isn't jarring. I also like that the 'weight' of the values is heavier at the bottom so they anchor the triangles and they don't float off into space. I just like it!
ReplyDeleteNot sure it does it for me as a photo, but it would certainly do it for me as a mini :o) For some insane reason my 1st January 2012 blog post gets over 200 views every day, nope, no clue lol
ReplyDeleteHi!!! I love it!!!! I am happy that a lot of people are getting to enjoy it!!!! Congrats!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaking it onto Explore is wonderful! I don't know why they dropped it! Jxo
ReplyDeleteFunny how the internet works, hey? My most popular blog post of all time is one that I have no IDEA how it gets so many views. It's not even one that I linked up to anything. Strange! I do love your triangles photo though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Debbie. My all time biggest hit on Explore was a progress shot, the finished piece got nothing!!!
ReplyDeleteYour triangles are gorgeous, really love the colours. I was debating whether to go with HST's or 60deg triangles on my next quilt, but after seeing these, I'm going with the 60deg. Thanks for the inspiration and the helpful little push to make up my mind.
This is fabulous a. And now I've seen it quilted on IG too!
ReplyDeleteThe same thing happened to me on Monday with my feather block for the forest QAL - I find the whole concept quite strange! Love your triangles!
ReplyDeleteI think it's the way they're laid out is pleasing to the eye and the colours seem to blend too :)
ReplyDeleteit's lovely, and I can definitely see the appeal! Some of my photos that have made it to explore, on the other hand, are just ordinary old shots. Explore is a mystery unto itself!
ReplyDeleteI love it, Leanne. What a great color mix!
ReplyDeleteLove the triangles but I am not going to pretend to understand how Explore works.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo....but also have no idea about the workings of explore.
