Sometimes I even work on a quilt
There is my large Mod Pop so far. I have at least two more chains of the aqua to make. The question I am contemplating is: do I also add one more block to the bottom of each chain, for a full queen size quilt.
This weekend I did some cutting. I cannot stand to cut all the pieces for a whole quilt at once, so I cut some, sew some.
I chain pieced the curved units. It took just about one hour to sew enough curved units for 7 blocks.
Here are the units, pressed and trimmed.
There it is right side up. I am very excited at how this crazy colour scheme is coming together. I have one more block done and tonight I have to do more cutting before I can piece more blocks.
We are going to have another prize in the Mod Pop QAL for one of the people who get their the tops done for December 2. Despite the leisurely pace of the QAL, some people want to give their quilt as a holiday present so I am stepping up the pace some. Since my quilt is for me, I am just hoping to be done in time for holiday moving watching.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I am happy to be working a quilt for a change, it has been a long while, what with bags and EPP and swaps and bees and such.
Best,
Leanne

pretty neat quilt Leanne
Make it a queen! Looks great. Watching all of these Mod Pops getting put together has been fun. One day, I might just give in.
The colors are fabulous. I never would have chosen them but I would gladly choose them now. Just fabulous.
You are the opposite of me -- I not only cut everything first, if I know what the binding will be, I do it after cutting. Then the two worst parts are over before I even "officially" start. I honestly enjoy hand-stitching the back of the binding so once I start sewing it's downhill. Assuming the seam ripper stays in its little pouch and doesn't make an appearance...
Its looking fabulous Leanne! I think an odd number is better for balance.....
It's gorgeous, so I agree - Go all out and make it HUGE!

LOVE the colours. So inspired. Definitely go crazy and make it queen. Can't get enough of that gorgeousness afterall! :)
It looks fantastic! It ALMOST makes me want to make one. :)
Very cool Leanne. I'm loving the colours.
This is coming together fantastically! The colors remind me of VACATION in some tropical place! Love love love. :D
Help me get motivated to make the back of mine. :(
Hi!!! It is so pretty!!! If you have the fabric I would say go for QUEEN!!! But if you don't have the fabric it is beautiful as it is!!!
This quilt is coming together so beautifully. I, too, cut some, sew some. It hurts my wrist and shoulders to cut a whole quilt at once.
Love this pattern, and your color choices are fantastic. As for making it bigger? Yes, of course! :)
wow lovely work!
Looks so beautiful!
You are alot faster than I piecing those blocks! They look SO fantastic. An unexpected and very fun palette!
The quilt top is looking incredible, and I am amazed at how fast you can piece those blocks!
It is beautiful. It is really striking in those colours. Di x
You’re on a roll Leanne, so why not make it bigger? It’s looking fantastic!
I never cut fabrics for a whole quilt, I often even work block by block, so I won’t get tired of doing the same thing and... I can change my mind if I want to!
These mod pops really pop! Lovely! Jxo
It looks fabulous Leanne, wow you can piece those blocks quickly. I think you should go for it and make it queen size.
I love the Mod Pop quilt pattern and this one is lovely - actually it is one of those patterns where I have never seen an ugly Mod Pop. Your colours are great. Good luck with your 2nd Dec finish!
Queen of curves :-) I really love that colour scheme too, the background especially is just gorgeous, so warm and lively!
Beautiful Leanne. Although you inspire me to get my ass in gear and sew, I am away until late November, so there's no chance of me getting it done by 2nd December! I am aiming for a finish before the end of the year though!
I do mine a bit differently. I cut it al, piece it all, etc. I finished cutting ny pieces this weekend. Hopefully this weekend I will piece a sample block . Not sure with the holiday and company though. We will see.
It's gorgeous! I love the colours, really cheers up a grey November day!
It looks so cool. When I start again with the pattern after Christmas I am using solids ;-)
Leanne, I say go for the queen size. And your color scheme makes total sense to me. What you have there are complimentary colors, and they really do compliment.
It's really gorgeous Leanne!
I'm with you, I cut some, sew some, cut some.....: I don't have the attention span to do otherwise! I love how the quilt is turning out
oh gosh, this is STUNNING! loving the colors. I say go big or go home, this is definitely a quilt i'd want to make big enough to put on a bed! I'm the same way in terms of cutting... that way if I lose steam I don't end up with a whole bunch of wasted pieces!
Looking fab so far, love the colour combo
Awesome combo xxx
It's looking fantastic Leanne - yes, make it queen!
Leanne, I love this top! And when I clicked on the link I had to giggle - my daughter-in-law's name is Julie Pickels (notice the spelling dif?) - how coincidental!
Quick question: I have acrylic templates like those shown that I used on a Retro Flowers quilt - could you maybe tell me the size - would love to make this. Many thanks!
Just delicious! The colors you are using are beautiful. I like that you went "wild" with two blues!
Looks amazing!
Oh Leanne I think my pace is extremely relaxed. Your Mod Pop is looking gorgeous.
