Wednesday - some progress to report and a long list of WIP
This is Noise - so far. Noise is about a 60" square and it is my plan to quilt her this weekend. She is made of Bella, Kona and linen solids and Umbrella Prints Trimmings.
I am so excited about this project. My friend Katy at the Littlest Thistle posted her entry - a wonderful notebook cover and large pencil case. When I commented on her post that maybe I would make something with the trimmings I had ordered and enter the contest too, she said something like she wondered what I would make. Well that started me thinking. But it is so busy in my life right now, so much noise all the time.
I looked at the trimmings. I wanted to make a whole reasonable size quilt out of this small bit of fabric. I needed to focus through all the noise around me so I could see the quilt. I needed the unimportant noise to stop taking so much of my attention and only that noise that mattered to stand out. Then I started sewing. This project is so much fun. I hope to quilt it on the weekend.
I have no time and too many projects already, I am leaving the country in 9 days - but, Katy made me do it, that is my story and I am sticking to it.
My other main work in progress is to make some extra mini quilts - I may possibly need some extras for my friends. And I need a travel bag, accessories for my sewing supplies (I just realized Katy might be somewhat responsible on that front too) and there are a couple of young women I might need to finish presents for. I will be sewing this week and weekend, when I am not working like mad. It is all so worth it - I will soon be in London.
Oh, and I almost forgot, I need to decide which quilt will be in the Blogger's Quilt Festival which starts on May 18 and what to give away for the Sew Mama Sew give away week which starts on May 21. I am sure there is more on the list, but that is all I can remember at this moment.
I am linking up to WIP Wednesday, which Lee hosts at Freshly Pieced, and also with my Canadian friends at the Needle and Thread Network. Buttons for both are on the right, great projects are linked at both, do visit them if you can.
Best,
Leanne
You've got a lot on your list - but it all sounds like fun! I love how your noise quilt is looking! Those fabric scraps are beautiful!
ReplyDeletewow. Beautiful noise! Your life sounds about like mine right now - so many projects & so many deadlines! Do take care & enjoy! London's a great thing to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteNoise is very calming, I love what has emerged from such a small pile of trimmings.
ReplyDeleteI can feel your London excitement, you are going to have such fun!
Your (White) Noise quilt top is SO interesting! Very calm and serene! London is going to be fabulous! Try to stay calm and serene too!
ReplyDeleteNoise - until you have been round to mine, you do not know the meaning of the word!!
ReplyDeleteNoise is wonderful - I wish the inside of my head looked like that!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very calm looking quilt, good luck with the rets of the stuff you have going on :)
ReplyDeleteLove it, as you already know. Hope the noise is diminished to a low roar now!
ReplyDeleteOh this is a gorgeous one. I love the suppleness of the quilt.
ReplyDeletei LOVE what you did with your scraps!!! I'm busy working on my project right now... funny i'm using neutrals with it too... it's not a quilt! more soon... i'm sewing it today!!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of those scraps L! Jxo
ReplyDeleteReally lovely! Love those pops of dark in a sea of neutral!
ReplyDeleteLove the name "noise" for a quilt. :)
ReplyDeleteI completely understand about the noise of life - so much going on. Can't wait to see what you feature on Blogger's Quilt Festival.
facinating concept to illustrate Noise. I am already picturing variations on the theme!
ReplyDeleteYou have some list there...nice quilt too,. The quilting will stand out nicely on that one.
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous, Leanne.Love how you come up with names for your quilts. I seem to lack imagination when it comes to naming my projects.
ReplyDeleteLove the name and the concept behind Noise. I've been seeing these color blocked quilts popping up here and there and I must say I love them. I think I need to try my hand at something like this sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteBwahahahaha, anything I can do to enable :oD Loving Noise anyway with all the different neutrals :o)
ReplyDeleteSo many projects on the go. Love the noise quilt. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love the noise quilt! Do you have time to breathe ;). I am afraid to make a WIP list...as long as my arm and you are making mini quilts too! Nice colours. I' curious to see the results!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful noise indeed. Can't wait to see it quilted up. I understand why you love it so much.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use that precious material! It's going to look fabulous all quilted!
ReplyDeleteI love it...I love it a lot. What a great name and the reason for it...it's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThere is just something lovely about a mostly neutral quilt. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love how your vision, your interpretation of noise yields that lovely calming quilt. I read Don DiLillo's White Noise (novel) once and felt like I needed to put in some earplugs and not talk for a long long time. If I'd had your quilt, I could have just focused on that.
ReplyDeleteHave SUCH fun in London--my son's on his way there now (business) and to say I'm jealous is an understatement. Jealous of both of you!
anyway--great quilt.
Elizabeth
lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of noise in my life right now too! I love the mix of neutrals with the scraps--well done!
ReplyDeleteLovely noise :) I can feel it's going to be yet another of your quilts I love.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it really does give the feeling of how my tinnitus sounds. Constant, low intensity noise inside my own head. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteooo hello! I do hope you finish it in time; we can't wait to get your link over here at Umbrella Prints- this is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely noise you've got there.
