This is Noise - so far. Noise is about a 60" square and it is my plan to quilt her this weekend. She is made of Bella, Kona and linen solids and Umbrella Prints Trimmings.
I am so excited about this project. My friend Katy at the Littlest Thistle posted her entry - a wonderful notebook cover and large pencil case. When I commented on her post that maybe I would make something with the trimmings I had ordered and enter the contest too, she said something like she wondered what I would make. Well that started me thinking. But it is so busy in my life right now, so much noise all the time.
I looked at the trimmings. I wanted to make a whole reasonable size quilt out of this small bit of fabric. I needed to focus through all the noise around me so I could see the quilt. I needed the unimportant noise to stop taking so much of my attention and only that noise that mattered to stand out. Then I started sewing. This project is so much fun. I hope to quilt it on the weekend.
I have no time and too many projects already, I am leaving the country in 9 days - but, Katy made me do it, that is my story and I am sticking to it.
My other main work in progress is to make some extra mini quilts - I may possibly need some extras for my friends. And I need a travel bag, accessories for my sewing supplies (I just realized Katy might be somewhat responsible on that front too) and there are a couple of young women I might need to finish presents for. I will be sewing this week and weekend, when I am not working like mad. It is all so worth it - I will soon be in London.
Oh, and I almost forgot, I need to decide which quilt will be in the Blogger's Quilt Festival which starts on May 18 and what to give away for the Sew Mama Sew give away week which starts on May 21. I am sure there is more on the list, but that is all I can remember at this moment.

ReplyDeleteLove the name and the concept behind Noise. I've been seeing these color blocked quilts popping up here and there and I must say I love them. I think I need to try my hand at something like this sometime soon.

ReplyDeleteI love how your vision, your interpretation of noise yields that lovely calming quilt. I read Don DiLillo's White Noise (novel) once and felt like I needed to put in some earplugs and not talk for a long long time. If I'd had your quilt, I could have just focused on that.
