On the Tiles - Ta Da!

On the Tiles - Ta Da!

I have taken Susan from Patchwork n Play's suggestion and named this quilt On the Tiles. She and many others, including me, are reminded of fancy tile floors when looking at this quilt. It is finished, quilted, bound and washed.

On the Tiles - Detail

I love this quilt. The pattern is called Summer's Blush by Bloom and is here. I love the graphic pattern, especially the nine patches framed in squares that are sort of oversized cornerstones. I used a layercake of Reunion fabrics designed by Sweetwater and Kona coal for the front. The back is Kona charcoal.

On the Tiles - back

I bound it in one of the reunion prints. The quilting is straightish lines first diagonally through the centre of the block and then in the ditch around the large grey diamonds. I am not normally a fan of quilting in the ditch but it worked well here where I wanted to make the diamonds pop and also wanted the quilting just a bit denser than just quilting the diagonal lines. Overall the quilt is fairly puffy and soft.

On the Tiles - before washing

This is a before washing photo where you can see the quilting better. These fabrics are really wonderful in person but, it turns out, rather hard to capture well in a picture.

On the Tiles - before washing

That one is also before washing. This quilt is about 60" square.

On the Tiles

And here it is all folded up. I have to say that this small flower print is wonderful as a binding, I am tempted to buy more for future bindings.

This is my second finish in Q2 of  Rhonda from Quilter in the Gap's finish-a-long. Not bad considering how many new projects I keep starting. This quilt is going with me this summer to my cottage for lying in the new hammock which my guy set up there for me for Mother's Day - unfortunately I was not there too but I will be before you know it. I think this is a perfect picnic and hammock quilt.

I have linked this up with Fabric Tuesday at Quilt Story (the button is on the side bar). There are always wonderful projects linked there.

Best,

Leanne

"On the Tiles" is perfect..and not just for its name! 😃I always say our quilts look so much better in person...so I can imagine those Sweetwater fabrics glow in the grey background. And the binding is fabulous!! Enjoy using it in the hammock! We want to see a photo of that!!!

Beautiful, Leanne! I don't think I've seen that pattern before but it looks like a fun one. Sounds like you have a perfect plan for it, too!
