A bit of this and a bit of that
The best is first - I was quilting my quilt made with the Summer's Blush pattern. I love the quilting part and this is how I ended my day yesterday.
Earlier I had started to gather the supplies that I need to take to the Fat Quarterly Retreat in London. I realized that my supplies need accessories. The cutter needs a zakka pencil case bag made slightly bigger, the ipad needs a case, the moleskin notebook needs a cover. Luckily the rest of the small bits will fit in that wonderful bag that Catherine made for me along with my name tag. And I have a few presents to finish up to take along. Oh, and I need to pick fabric for the classes. A lot of bits and choices to make, I was totally unfocused and worried. Thus, I turned to the quilting mentioned above.
My evening started with wonderful mail. Those pot holders, pins and magnet came to me from Jodie (who is simplykidsocala on flickr and who blogs at You Quilt Girl). I asked for blue, yellow and white and she made these lovelies! Thank you Jodie!
Earlier this week, I finished piecing the Echo Stained. I am making this quilt using Sarah from Narcoleptic in a Cupboard's pattern as part of her Quilt-a-long. I love this pattern and it works so nicely with the Echo fabrics by Lotta Jansdotter. I think I will add some 5 or 6" borders in the Kona Charcoal that I used for the skinny sashing to make it a bit bigger. Right now it is about 44" square.
And these are the blocks that I received this round in the 5 x 4 Modern Blocks Bee all together. My group - Hive 1 - this round did a great job.
In fact all of my groups have been wonderful, look at the whole lot so far. I want to do one more round and then finish the quilt. This upcoming round will be accelerated so we have the summer off, so I am going to need to make my blocks right away as I am going to be in London for 10 days.
Finally, I have to make a pincushion for my secret partner in the Fab Little Pincushion Swap. I am really not sure what to make. Tonight I will see what I can manage, maybe just making some things will break the pincushion block. Any other thoughts on how to do that are most welcome.
Off to the work that pays for the fabric, enjoy your day.
Best,
Leanne
