Liberated (emergency) Baby Quilt {tutorial}
I made this Liberated (emergency) Baby Quilt last week, after, as I told you in last post, my darling spouse mentioned that a quilt was needed in a week or two for a friend's soon to be born baby. I started it Wednesday night after dinner, worked on it a bit Thursday and Friday evenings and finished it on Saturday - for me a very fast turn around. The front is a rainbow of dancing liberated Shoo Fly blocks.
The back is designed to encourage tossing the quilt onto the floor/ground for baby to play and is made up of two wonky stars - my very favourite of all time blocks to make. I chose the front and back blocks because they have a great impact, and yet are very fast to piece. And I have to say both sides make me smile every time I look at them, the liberated or wonky piecing has such a great modern feel to it.
My tutorial for making this quilt is featured over at Rhonda at Quilter in the Gap's Finish-A-Long tutorial series. I hope you enjoy it and all the other tutorials she is featuring this week.

Love this quilt. It doesn't look like an emergency at all.

So adorable!
oh man - love those wonky shoo fly blocks! so adorable and they look like they're dancing. :)
I love this quilt!!!! And I spied your mosaic - wow, I missed a lot in March. What a month you had. Gorgeous work, indeed.
Lovely baby quilt and originally yours as always.
3 days???Seriously? It is beautiful and double sided, I think it is fabulous
I'd love to have the skills and SPEED that you have to get these quilts done! The backing reminded me of you--a huge pieced block, and oh yes, those wonky stars are the best!
I like that you made the colors so that they felt as if they could throw that baby quilt on the ground--a great idea.
