Farmer's Wife Update and some House Blocks
This is Night & Day, Block # 59 from the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt. I decided it was time to do some of the paper pieced blocks (Some people are using the templates but I am opting for paper piecing practice.) I am still pretty new to paper piecing and am still just floored by the wonderful pointy points you get after all that confusing activity with paper and bits of fabric and such.
This is Waste Not, #97. Look at those points!
Here are my 12 blocks together. I think eventually I will redo the two blocks without any white, I am sold on the crisp contrast between the very colourful and bright fabrics and the Kona white. The variations on these blocks over on the flickr QAL page is amazing, you may want to go and look.
I have to show off my Twelve Month Quilting Bee blocks too. I have never tried to make a house before, although I love many different house quilt variations.
Julie sent us a bunch of colourful strips and the cutest faces. I had fun making siding and framing the window and door.
This is the first one I did, I was going for a two story house with a fancy doorway. These houses were a fun challenge, and now these blocks are in the mail.
Best,
Leanne

All 4 blocks are fabulous. I'm going to have to practice paper piecing as I agree the end result with lovely pointy points is so good.
Those blocks are amazing! I love the houses! And... I've never done any paper piecing (I'm afraid!) but those blocks have sold me! I'm going to try it!! :) LOVE the points!
I love love love the house blocks you have made for me. They are so cute! The frames around the door and window in the top one are perfect and really make the block stand out. And I love that you made the bottom one a two story!
The FW blocks look great with those perfect points. I'm determined to make all of mine using the templates for some reason. When I muck them up I'll know what I need to do, LOL!
OMG. I'm not so sure about starting the Farmers wife quilt-a-long after seeing your amazing paper piecing. I've never tried paper piecing so I can see a lot of hair pulling in my future!! Stunning blocks!!
Oh your wee houses are adorable! I love patchwork houses. And your FW blocks are pointy-licious! Jxo
Your latest FW blocks are lovely, I'm very impressed with the pointiness! That first one is really stunning :-)
Your Farmers Wife blocks are GORGEOUS! I love the bright colors you're using.
omigosh. those FW blocks are so fantastic! while the two with no white are pretty, i think you're right about the white adding stellar contrast. sute house blocks too!!
I love you farmers wife blocks!! I am planning on doing them similarly with all the white and using bright rainbow colors, and yours definitely help me visualize it better :)
You're right - the white adds amazing contrast to the FW blocks! They look very nice and pointy, and I love the house blocks.
I love the night & day blog...beautiful!!
Oh, I love the points, especially on Waste Not. And your fabric choice for FWQAL makes the blocks trully unique.
Those blocks do look so pretty with the crisp white. Your house blocks are so cute!
